WEDNESDAY TREKKING GROUP

Trekkers meet at the Parkinson Activity Centre., 1700 Parkinson Way, at 9.00 AM unless otherwise indicated. Wear hardy hiking shoes or boots, and bring water, hiking sticks and suitable clothing for weather. Most hikes will be under 2 hours in length and a stop for refreshments will be noted. Please note, these hikes are not easy strolls as most participants come to get the exercise. There will be hills and a moderately fast pace, and hikes are subject to change as conditions change. Those wishing to meet at the hike start should phone the leader to get the exact location. For more information on any of the hikes call the leader.

We would like Trekkers that go to the start of the hike, to get there around 9 AM for signing in.

May 2, 2018 Bear Creek 9:00 AM   Car pool from PAC to Bear Creek Trail which is north on the Westside Road, about 10 minutes from the bridge if you take your time. We will walk around the camp ground and then up to the waterfall which is moderate. Lots of steps. Coffee to follow at Tim’s by the theatre. 1.5 hours (For more information call Ed Letkeman at 250-808-7869).

May 9 2018 Upper Mill Creek Trails. This is a flat walk along trails. (Approx 1hr and 10 min) Meet at 9am at the Senior Centre or meet at departure point. Travel along Enterprise Way. Turn left at a small lane with a sign that says Enterprise Dog Park. The lane is between Shaw offices and BMW Car dealership.  Park at end of lane. Friday May 11, 2018 Special Trek 9:00 Upper Pin Cushion This hike is difficult with a climb above Pin Cushion.   Good hiking boots, poles, lunch and extra water are recommended.  Car pool from PAC at 9:00 AM to Peachland, take Ponderosa Road exit by the golf ball and go the end.  Please pack your lunch in your backpack with extra water as we will have lunch with a great view above Pin Cushion.  The views are incredible along the trail so bring your camera. May 16, 2018 Hiking Mount Baldy. Meet at PAC at 9:00AM. We will car pool to the end of Mount Baldy Drive where we will park. Take Dilworth Drive past Summit Drive and then right on Mount Baldy Drive. Contact Bob Feeny (250 860 1699) for more detailed directions. This hike has lots of uphill and downhill stretches. It is not a flat walk. We will go around the base of Mt Baldy and then up to the summit where there is an airport beacon light. Here you will see panoramic views of Kelowna. Hike is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes Coffee at Orchard Park Food Court

May 23 2018 Belgo Loop: Car pool from Pac at 9am and meet at the corner of Springfield and Belgo Roads.  This is a circular route with several small hills but lots of easy hiking.  The walk takes us along Teasdale, Belgo, Garner and Walburn roads.  We will pass by the historical Belgo House.  This is a dog friendly walk approx 1hour 30 minutes.
