WEDNESDAY TREKKING GROUP
Trekkers meet at the Parkinson Activity Centre., 1700 Parkinson Way, at 9.00 AM ( unless otherwise indicated.) Wear hardy hiking shoes or boots, and bring water, hiking sticks and suitable clothing for weather. Most hikes will be under 2 hours in length and a stop for refreshments will be noted. Please note, these hikes are not easy strolls as most participants come to get the exercise. There will be hills and a moderately fast pace, and hikes are subject to change as conditions change. Those wishing to meet at the hike start should phone the leader to get the exact location. For more information on any of the hikes call the leader.
We would like Trekkers that go to the start of the hike, to get there around 9.00 AM for signing in.
April 3rd 2019 Peachland/Lower Trepanier Creek hike. Meet either at PSS at 9.00 am or at Beach Ave/13th Street in Peachland approx 9:30am. Park on Beach Ave just east of Bliss Bakery.Hike will be approx an hour and 15 minutes. One medium size Hill…mostly forest trails.Coffee at Bliss Bakery. Leaders Ken and Deb Kitura 778-363-1950
April 10th 2019 The Ponds Upper Mission. Meet at the PAC at 9:00 A.M. We will walk from Frost Road, just east of Gordon Drive. Directions to hike are Gordon Drive, left on Frost Road. Park just East of Gordon on Frost Road. Coffee will follow at Urban Fare in the Mission. The walk is moderate with some hills, Approx. 1.5 hours. Friday April 12, 2019 Special advance Trek 9:00 AM at PAC Gladstone Trail Peachland. This hike is difficult with a climb to see old mines, meet Old Pete on a mountain above Peachland.
Peachland, take Princeton Ave. right Somerset Ave. left Gladstone Rd. left Victoria St. right Harrington Cres. Please pack your lunch in your backpack with extra water as we will have lunch with a great lake view. The views are incredible along the trail so bring your camera. Approximately 3 hours. April 17, 2019 Bear Creek 9:00 AM Car pool from PAC to Bear Creek Trail which is north on the Westside Road, about 10 minutes from the bridge if you take your time. We will walk around the camp ground and then up to the waterfall which is moderate. Lots of steps. April 24, 2019 Roberts Lake: Car pool from the PAC to Glenmore. Turn right off Glenmore Road onto Kane Road then turn left onto Drysdale (by Starbucks) then take the first left onto Whitman Road. Follow Whitman to Glenpark Drive turn right then continue a short distance to the park on the right (see the kids playground). Park here. This is Matera Glen Park. Our hike will take us to Roberts Lake, easy going with some short hills. This is an out and back hike approx 1hr 30. This is a dog friendly hike. Coffee to follow at Tim Hortons or Starbucks.
