Trekkers meet at the Parkinson Activity Centre., 1700 Parkinson Way, at 8.30 AM (Please note the Time Change from 9.00 AM) unless otherwise indicated. Wear hardy hiking shoes or boots, and bring water, hiking sticks and suitable clothing for weather. Most hikes will be under 2 hours in length and a stop for refreshments will be noted. Please note, these hikes are not easy strolls as most participants come to get the exercise. There will be hills and a moderately fast pace, andhikes are subject to change as conditions change. Those wishing to meet at the hike start should phone the leader to get the exact location. For more information on any of the hikes call the leader.
We would like Trekkers that go to the start of the hike, to get there around 8.30AM for signing in.
June 6 2018 Rose Valley Regional Park Meet at Parkinson Activity Centre at 830 am and car pool to Rose Valley Regional Park in West Kelowna. We will drive across the bridge and wind up the hill in West Kelowna, turn right on Westlake Road,(just past Fabric Land, and before Kal Tire), go straight through round about (2nd exit), carry on 2 km from the highway on Westlake road and park at parking lot on your left, the one with washroom, across from Starlight Crescent, at Rose Valley Regional Park. The hike is 4km round trip, moderate with some short steep parts, beautiful scenic views from the top. June 13 2018 Mt Boucherie, from Eain Lamont Parking Lot, Meet at Parkinson Activity Centre at 830 am and car pool to Mt Boucherie Park, park at the Eain Lamont Parking lot. Take Hwy. 97S across Bennett Bridge; turn left at Hudson Rd.; turn right on Guidi Rd.; turn right on Trevor Rd, stay left, this road becomes Lakeview Cove Rd, head up the hill and loop around, Entrance to Eain Lamont park is on left across from a pullout on right. The hike is easy walking with some short steep parts. Coffee to follow at Tim Hortons in Lakeview Plaza, on your right as you head back toward the bridge. June 20, 2018 Knox Mountain Trek Meet at the PAC at 8:30 A.M. with your sturdy hiking boots and poles. We will walk through the park plateau, across Knox Mountain to see lake views. Park on Avonlea Way at the first left turn off Magic Drive in Magic Estates by the sunken park. The walk is Approx. 1.50 hours, moderate sections with some steps. June 22, 2018 8:30 Special Trek Friday Coyote Ridge to Lake:This hike is advanced from moderate to difficult as climbing several hills. Good hiking boots, poles and extra water are recommended. Car pool from PAC at 8:30 AM to the end of Union off Glenmore. Please pack your lunch with extra water as we will have lunch at the top. The views are incredible along the trail. June 27 2018 KVR Trail from Penticton towards Naramata. Meet at PAC at 08.30 and car pool to Penticton. When approaching Penticton move into the left lane, after the bridge turn left at the first traffic light, which is Westminster Ave W. Continue on Westminster until you reach Main St, about 10 blocks. Cross Main St, the road veers off to the left and becomes Front St. Continue to the roundabout and go right onto Vancouver Ave. Head up the hill and look for the KVR Trail sign and turn left into Vancouver Place. This is a dead-end street, so park anywhere. The hike is on a wide gravel path out and back so people can turn at any time. Generally flat with just a few bumps. There are no washrooms at the start but some are available at 1.5km. There is very little shade so make sure you have a hat, drinks and sun screen. We will walk as far as the little store where we can rest and grab an ice cream or cold drink. Approx 1hr 30 mins. This is a dog friendly walk.
