WEDNESDAY TREKKING GROUP

Trekkers meet at the Parkinson Activity Centre., 1700 Parkinson Way, at 8.30 AM ( unless otherwise indicated.) Wear hardy hiking shoes or boots, and bring water, hiking sticks and suitable clothing for weather. Most hikes will be under 2 hours in length and a stop for refreshments will be noted. Please note, these hikes are not easy strolls as most participants come to get the exercise. There will be hills and a moderately fast pace, and hikes are subject to change as conditions change. Those wishing to meet at the hike start should phone the leader to get the exact location. For more information on any of the hikes call the leader.
We would like Trekkers that go to the start of the hike, to get there around 8.30AM for signing in.
September 5th 2018 Dilworth Mountain Park – Car pool from Parkinson Activity Centre at 8:30 to the Lillooet Park parking lot on Summit Drive. From Glenmore Rd, turn right onto Summit Drive. Once you cross over Chilcotin/Lillooet Crescents it is the first park on the left. The hike is moderate and approximately 1.5 hours. Coffee afterwards at Tim Hortons, Kane Rd, Glenmore. September 12th 2018 Horizon Trail Loop: From the PAC go south over the bridge to the first traffic signal (Boucherie Road) and turn right on Horizon Drive. Go about 700 metres to where the road makes a sweeping bend to the left before heading up the hill. There is a trail to the right, park here. Parking is limited so please car pool if possible. Our hike will take us on the trail before gradually climbing up to Westview Place to Spyglass Way. We will continue along the bench through Diamond View estates before heading downhill to Bear Creek Road. We will return via the Horizon Trail approx 1hr 30 mins. This is a dog friendly walk. September 19 2018 : Powers Creek and the Flume Trail. Meet at PAC at 8:30 AM and car pool to Blue Jay Drive in Glenrosa (use 3164 Blue Jay Drive if you are using a GPS). Park at the end of the road in the cul de sac. This is a moderately flat 1 1/4 hour walk with a fairly steep hill going down to the trail and then coming back to the starting point. Coffee to follow at Tim Hortons in the Lake Okanagan Shopping Centre near the bridge. For more information or directions call Bob Feeny @250 860 1699.
Sept. 21 2018 Special Hike 8:00 AM Friday to Enderby Cliffs: This hike is advanced from moderate to difficult as climbing for 2.5 hours to the top. Good hiking boots, poles and extra water are recommended. Car pool from PAC at 8:00 AM to Enderby Cliffs Provincial Park which is off Mable Lake Road in Enderby. It is 1.5 hour drive so we need to start early. Please pack your lunch in your backpack with extra frozen water as we will have lunch at the top. The views are incredible at the top and along the trail. Approx. 4.5 hours. (For more information call Ed Letkeman at 250-808-7869).
Sept. 26 2018 Fintry Waterfall: Car pool from PAC at to Fintry which is north on the Westside Road, about 40 minutes from the bridge if you take your time. You will pass Bear Creek campground, the Okanagan Resort and La Casa along the way. Park by the east day lot close to the lake. We will walk around the park and then up to the waterfall which is moderate. Pack your cooler, make a sandwich or whatever you wish to eat as we will have a picnic following the walk.
