Trekkers meet at the Parkinson Activity Centre., 1700 Parkinson Way, at 8:30 AM  (unless otherwise indicated.)  Wear hardy hiking shoes or boots, and bring water, hiking sticks and suitable clothing for the weather.  Most hikes will be under 2 hours in length and a stop for refreshments will be noted.  Please note, these hikes are not easy strolls as most participants come to get the exercise. There will be hills and a moderately fast pace, and hikes are subject to change as conditions change.  Those wishing to meet at the hike start should phone the leader to get the exact location.  For more information on any of the hikes call the leader.

We would like Trekkers that go to the start of the hike, to get there around 8.30AM for signing in.

August 1st 2018 Quail Ridge Linear Park: Carpool from Parkinson Activity Centre to Quail Ridge Subdivision. Left turn at Kelowna Airport Intersection onto Quail Ridge Blvd. Turn left on Quail Run Drive, right on Quail Lane and left on Quail Crescent. Parking at end of Crescent. This is a lengthy, level walk to UBC-Okanagan with a coffee break in the middle at the College cafeteria. Each way takes approximately one hour and 15 minutes. August 8th 2018 Rails for Trails – North end walk Trekkers meet at the PAC at 8:30 for a new walk on the Rails for Trails. Car pool to parking lot in Lake Country at the corner of Woodsdale Road and Oyama Road. (You get into the parking lot by turning left off Woodsdale Road just after passing the Reiswig Regional park on Wood Lake, and just before you get to Oyama Road.) We will walk for approximately 45 minutes north on this beautiful flat trail and then return by the same trail. Coffee will follow at Tim Horton’s in Winfield, but some people may want to gather for lunch or just coffee at the Jammery. I need you to let me know if you want to go to the Jammery so I can let the restaurant know. Special Trek Friday August 10, 2018 BX Falls: Meet at 8:30 at the PAC to car pool to the Vernon. This is a spectacular peaceful hike mostly under the cover of mature trees. Beside the falls there are two steep sets of stairs and two short hills down, otherwise it is basically flat. Approximately 2.5 hours moderate. Bring your lunch and water. Follow 48th Avenue East, it becomes Silver Star Rd. Just past the BX School, turn right onto Star Rd. Sign and parking at trailhead on the right just before turning left up the hill. August 15, 2018 Bellevue Creek, Woodhaven Park Meet at the PAC at 8:30 A.M. We will walk from Bullock Road. Park on Frederick and Bullock off Raymer Road which is south of De Hart. Coffee will follow at Urban Fare in the Mission. The walk is easy, Approx. 1.5 hours. Call Ed Letkeman at 250-808-7869 for more information.

August 22, 2018 Tickle Walk : Requested to reschedule due to fires in July, see where trek starts. Meet at the PAC at 8:30 AM Bring water and a lunch. We will walk north along Skaha Lake on the KVR starting in Okanagan Falls. After lunch we will walk through town to Tickleberry’s for ice cream. Drive to OK Falls on 97, Turn left in town, Park around 7th Avenue by Christie Memorial Park. There are washrooms. The walk is Approx. 1.5 hours along the lake, it is an easy flat walk. August 29 2018 Our out of town hike this month is to Summerland and the Centennial Trail (part of).  Car pool from PAC at 08.30, drive to Summerland and take the first traffic light onto Rosedale Ave, go to the first roundabout and take the 9 o’clock exit onto Peach Orchard Rd.  This will take you under the highway and down to the lake.  At the T-junction at the bottom of the hill turn right and park at Peach Orchard Park on the left.  Our hike will take us partly back up the hill and we’ll climb up a trail to Bristow Rd.  From there we will make our way downhill (steep in places) to Lakeshore Drive and we will return along the lake to our vehicles. This is a dog friendly walk of approx. 1hr 30 mins. Coffee/lunch afterwards TBA on Lakeshore Drive. Any question call Martyn at 250-862-8753.
