For those wishing to meet at the trailhead, the time and directions are listed within the description of each hike. You will check in there.
Directions to trailhead, difficulty level, and length of time are stated in the descriptions below as well as if there will be a stop for refreshments.
Please note: these treks are for exercise as well as the scenery and comradery. Wear hardy hiking shoes or boots, and bring water, hiking sticks, and suitable clothing for weather.

Wed. Sept. 3 – John’s Family Conservancy Regional Park: Meet at PAC at 8:30am to carpool or the trailhead at 9:00 am. Directions: Go up Gordon Drive all the way through the Mission towards the Ponds subdivision and new shopping center. Right onto Frost Rd. Left onto Kildeer which turns into Southcrest. Left onto Chute Lake Rd. Left turn lane onto UPPER MISSION DRIVE. Stay on this road until it turns into a gravel road and eventually you will come to the gate and parking lot sign (approx.. 2km of gravel) for the John’s Family Conservancy Regional Park. I am using this route rather than Lakeshore Rd. & Chute Lake Rd. due to road closure (at least it was when I wrote this). Circle hike about 1.5 hrs.

Wed. Sept. 10 – NEW! This is a hike in the upper west region of Kekuli Provincial Park that goes under HWY 97 and follows toward Predator Ridge: Meet at PAC for carpooling at 8:30am or at the trail head at 9:10am. Directions: The trail head is off Bailey Road opposite the exit for Predator Ridge. Take Hwy.97 north staying alert to the signage for Predator. The first sign refers to the distance of 1.2 kms to the turnoff and shortly thereafter there is a 2nd sign referring to LODGING AT PREDATOR. Pay attention !! for the sign – the turnoff onto Bailey Rd is very near and you can see the turnoff on the right and the toilet in the parking lot. Start slowing the car because there is NO DESIGNATED EXIT LANE, so you will make a quick right turn and then an immediate left into the parking lot. This trail is loose gravel that is somewhat packed in places so bring your poles. We will do a loop and then another on the hillside above Kalamalka Lake to show you the most beautiful park bench in Kekuli. Time: 1.5 hours (note- This is NOT a beach walk). Friday Special Advanced Trek – Sept. 12 – Beyond Big Rock: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or the trailhead at 8:50am. Directions: Take Benvoulin, left on K.L.O., turns into McCulloch, past Gallagher’s golf course, left on Field Road to trail head. Bring your sturdy hiking boots, poles and water. We will hike up Mission Creek Beyond Big Rock. The trek is Approx. 3.15 hours, difficult hills, both up and down. Bring your lunch as we have it along the trail. Wed. Sept. 17 – Kalamoir Regional Park: This is an old favourite, and the trees may be changing colour. Meet at PAC at 8:30am or the trailhead at 8:45am. Directions: Turn left onto Sunnyside Rd off Boucherie Rd and follow Sunnyside to the end. Park in the cul de sac. We will start walking along the higher trail and return on the trail along the lake. This is a moderate loop approximately 3.5 kms long with 97m elevation gain. Hike will take 1.5 hours. Poles recommended. Coffee at It’s a Bakery, 845 Anders Rd. or back at the PAC. Friday Special Advanced Trek – Sept. 19 – Angel Springs: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or the trailhead at 9:00am. Directions: Turn right onto McCulloch Rd off KLO then turn right onto Gallagher’s Canyon Rd. Turn right onto June Springs Rd. to Stop sign. Turn left and continue on June Springs Rd. until you reach Myra Canyon Ranch. Take the middle gravel road on the right towards the ranch and drive just over a km. The parking lot for the trailhead is on the right. This is a 6.8km in and out hike with an elevation gain of 290m. There is a hill to start but mostly flat in the middle. A good mix of up and down. Some rocky spots so wear sturdy shoes and bring poles. Dress appropriately for the weather. We will walk slightly further past the Springs to Troll Bridge where we will stop for a snack. Plan on 3-3.5 hours overall. For more information call Issy at (250) 681-2544.
Wed. Sept. 24 – Black Mountain (Tower Ranch entrance): Meet at PAC at 8:30am for carpooling and at the trail head at 8:50am. Directions: Go north on 97 and turn right at McCurdy Rd. Follow, turning right onto Tower Ranch Drive and then right onto Summer Crescent and follow to the ample parking lot. The first 20 minutes takes us uphill but the rest is moderate with a long downhill walk. Very pleasant with great views! Walking poles if you choose. Time: 1.25 hours. Coffee at Speciality Bakery. Wed. August 6 – Peachland Waterfront: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or meet at the trailhead at 9:10am. Directions: Take Hwy 97 to Peachland and turn left on 13th Street. Turn right on Beach Avenue and continue for about 1.5 km then park along the road close to 2nd St. We will gather in Cenotaph Park. This flat 6 km trek goes along the waterfront to Trepanier Creek, returning partway along a trail. Some shade but also lots of sun so wear a hat and pack water. If desired, we can gather after the trek in Cenotaph Park for a picnic, bringing your own refreshments or picking some up in Peachland. You may also wish to pack a folding chair to sit on. Wed. August 13 – Okanagan Centre Beach Walk – Lake Country: Meet at PAC at 8:30am in the parking lot for carpooling or 9:00am at the trail head. Directions: Drive north on Hwy. 97 through Winfield to the Super Save Gas and turn left onto Oceola Rd. Proceed approximately 4 Km on this winding road to the tiny hamlet of Okanagan Centre. Note a 3 way stop, proceed straight here, and note the speed bumps thereafter. Turn left at 5th Street at the playground and park here. Toilets available. This will be a single file flat trail, mostly packed pebbles, an easy walk, totalling approximately 5 km round trip along the shore of OK Lake. No poles required unless you can’t live without them. Wed. August 20 – The Greenway: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or the trail head 8:45am. Directions: Meet at Scenic Canyon Regional Park on Hollywood Rd South. Hike is ~1.5 hrs in and out, flat and mostly shaded. We will walk to the start of the steps. Depending on the heat we can consider walking to the top (~100 steps) for a great view if people so choose. Coffee at Orchard Park food court or PAC. For more info call Issy at (250) 681-2544.
Friday August 22 – Special Advanced Trek – KLO Creek: Meet at PAC 8:30am or 8:50am at the trailhead. Directions: Take Benvoulin, left on K.L.O., turns into McCulloch, past Field over the bridge, park on right just past bridge. This trek is moderate -to-difficult as crossing creek several times up KLO Creek. Bring your lunch, good hiking boots, poles, and water. Please pack your lunch as we will have lunch at turn around. Wed. August 27 – Helmut’s Sausage: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or at the trailhead at 8:45am.
Directions: From the centre, head out on Enterprise, pass Hwy 33 then turn right on Commerce Ave (by Trail Appliances), look for Helmut’s on your left. This is an easy flat hike on the rail trail approx. 1hr 30 mins. Please wear good hiking shoes, wear a hat, bring a drink and a smile.

Wed. July 2 – Pelemewash Parkway- Oyama entry point: Meet at PAC for carpooling at 8:30am. Meet at trailhead/starting point at 9:10am. Directions: Drive north on Hwy 97 through Winfield and PAST the first exit ramp for Pelemewash going onward over the mountain to the second exit for Pelmewash and Oyama. Go right here and proceed for about 3/4 of a km. and park OPPOSITE Gatzke Farm Market where you will note there is a charging station for electric vehicles. Park south of those booths which is where our hike will begin. This is a flat, paved trail so no poles required. Toilets available. This a charming lake side walk with a bit of traffic noise. We will do 5.6 kms out and back. Coffee at Gatzke’s Farm Market where they serve a cup for $2 and treats or you can chose the OK Grill. Gatzke’s have a lovely gift shop in addition to their fruits, veggies, and bakery. Any questions call Christine Lawrence at 778- 480-4155.
Wed. July 9 – Mission Creek, Greenway and Sutherland Hills Trails: Meet at PAC for carpooling at 8:30am or 8:45am at parking lot by the playground and washrooms in Mission Creek Regional Park on Springfield Road. We will go along some of the Mission Park Greenway path and then take stairs up into some trails in Sutherland Hills and finish back at the parking lot. Wear comfortable shoes/hikers/hat/sunscreen and use walking poles if you wish. Most of this will be in shade and there will be some gentle ups and downs, as well as a few stairs. I’m thinking probably about 1.5 hours. Coffee afterwards back at PAC or in the food court at Orchard Park. For more info, call Pepper at 250-470-3917 (Mobile).
Wed. July 16 – Quail Ridge Flume Trail: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or the trailhead at 9:20am. Directions: Left on Airport Way. Take the 1st exit on roundabout onto Quail Ridge Boulevard and continue on same. Left onto Quail Run Drive. First right onto Quail Lane and drive to end Quail Crescent. Turn left and park in cul de sac. From here we will walk along Eagle View towards the university and back along the Flume trail. Distance: 6.4 km. Elevation: 128 m. Time: 1.5 to 2 hours. This is a nicely forested trail that is mostly flat with some inclines. Coffee at PAC or Tim Hortons on Pier Mac Way. Call Issy at 250-681-2544 for more information.
Friday Special Advanced Trek – July 18 – BX Falls: Meet at PAC 8:30am or the trailhead on Star Rd. at 9:40am. Directions: 97 to Vernon, right on 48th Ave. turns into Silver Star Road, right on Star Road just past BX School. Trail head on right of Star Road. Trek is moderate with stairs up and down to the falls; trail is covered by a canopy of trees. Bring your good hiking boots, poles and water. Please pack your lunch as we will have lunch at the falls. Wed. July 23 – Myra Bellevue Small Loop: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or at the trailhead at 8:45am. Directions: Take Hwy 97 S, turn left onto Gordon Dr. and continue to Casorso Rd where you will turn left. At the roundabout, take 1st exit to stay on Casorso. At next roundabout, take 2nd exit and stay on Casorso. Continue straight onto Bedford Rd for 1.5 km. Take a slight right onto Stewart Rd E. Continue straight to Myra Bellevue Park, parking lot. This is a moderate hike of about 2 hrs in the Myra Bellevue Park. There are lots of ups and downs on nice forested trails. We will go to Teddy Bear Junction and Rose Lookout. Please wear good boots, bring a hat, a drink, and prepare for sun and bugs. Wed. July 30 – Trepanier Creek: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or the trailhead at 9:15am. Directions: Drive over bridge and take the Connector off 97. Turn right off hwy at Trepanier Creek, then left under bridge. Park at the trailhead. Latter is small but extra parking across the street. This is a relatively easy in and out 6km hike with an elevation gain of 173m. Plan on walking for about 2 hours. Trail mostly shady with some bare spots. Wed. June 4 – Specialty Bakery Loop: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or the trailhead at 8:45am. Directions: Head north on Hwy 97 to Stremel Road (just past Orchard Ford) turn right then first left onto Finn Road. Please try to carpool because parking can be at a premium. This is a flat easy hike of about 1hr 30 mins in the surrounding neighbourhood. Some trails but mainly on paved roads. Please wear good boots, bring a hat, a drink, and a smile. Wed. June 11 – Knox Mountain East Glenmore Ridge: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or at the trailhead on Cara Glen at 8:45am. Directions: Clement to Clifton, right on Cara Glen. Do not park in the Round-about. Bring your sturdy hiking boots, poles, and water. Knox East is in a valley with many trails and trees. The trek is Approx. 2 hours, easy with many moderate hills. Wed. June 18 – Powers Creek Flume Trail: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or at the trailhead at 8:50am. Directions: Proceed to Blue Jay Drive in Glenrosa (use 3164 Blue Jay Drive if you are using a GPS). Park at the end of the road in the cul de sac. This is a moderately flat 1 ½ hour walk with a steep hill going down to the flume and then coming back to the starting point. Some other parts of the trail are narrow and steep. Coffee to follow at Tim Horton’s in the Lake Okanagan Shopping Centre near the bridge or PAC. Wed. June 25 – Glen Canyon in West Kelowna: Meet at PAC at 8:30am or the trailhead at 9:00am. Drive to Westbank, turn left on Old Okanagan hwy. and park on corner of Ingram Rd. (outside Johnson Bentley Pool). This hike is fairly flat with moderate hills and sets of stairs with 25-50 stairs each. It will be a loop hike and take about 1.5 – 2 hrs. Some surfaces may be rocky so bring poles. Coffee at Tim Hortons on Carrington Rd (right side of hwy 97 just past Canadian Tire and Home Depot). For more information contact Issy at 250- 681-2544.
Friday, June 27 – Special Advanced Trek: Trestle Loop via Canyon Bridge Summerland: Meet at PAC 8:30am or 9:30am at the trailhead. Carpooling recommended as there is limited roadside parking. Directions: Take Hwy 97S to Summerland. Turn right on Rosedale Ave. At the roundabout, continue straight to stay on Rosedale Ave. At the next roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Prairie Valley Rd. Turn right onto Giant’s Head Road. In 2.9 km turn right to stay on Giant’s Head Rd. Turn left on Hillborn St. Then turn right on Canyon View Rd. Drive past Summerland Sweets and park on the side of the road. We will begin our hike at Canyon Valley Train Station, cross the Trout Creek Trestle and then do a loop through a dry forest track. In total this hike is about 9 km long with 300m of elevation gain. Expect to be actively hiking for 3 hr. Good tread and poles recommended. Pack an early lunch, sunscreen, lots of water, and wear a hat. After the hike we will walk over to Summerland Sweets for ice cream and shopping. For further information call Jan at 778-215-0312.

Wed. May 7 – Scenic Canyon: Meet at PAC at 9:00am or at the trail head at 9:20am. Directions: take Benvoulin, left on K.L.O., turns into McCulloch, past Gallagher’s golf course, left on Field Road to trail head. Bring your sturdy hiking boots, poles and water. We will hike Scenic down to Mission Creek. The trek is Approx. 2 hours with moderate hills both up and down. Coffee at Orchard Park food “fight” or PAC. Wed. May 14 – The Big Loop – Lake Country: Join me for my favourite hike from my home in Lake Country. Meet at PAC at 9:00am or meet at 13740 Townsend Dr. at 9:40am. Directions: Take Hwy 97 north, through Winfield to the Super Save gas station. Turn left onto Oceola Rd. Follow through the round about and down Rainbow Hill turning right onto Carr’s Landing Rd. Follow for 1.7 kms and then veer right onto Moberley Rd. Continue ½ K and turn left onto Forest Hills Drive. Then a right onto Townsend. We are the second house on the right. Parking in the gully is tandem so park up on the road by the big rocks. We call this hike the Big Loop which is half on paved road (no problem in a low traffic zone) and the rest on dirt roads through forests. Time is 1.25 hours. Yes there are 3 moderate hills but we can pace ourselves and we’ll go down the big hill to admire some spectacular scenery. Coffee on my deck rain or shine. Wed. May 21 – Black Mountain Short West Loop: Meet at PAC at 9:00am or the trail head at 9:20am. Directions: Park at the Black Mountain Regional Park Swainson trail head (corner of Swainson Rd and Treetop Rd. This is a moderate hike with up and down hills. Please bring poles and dress appropriately for the unpredictable weather. Distance 4.8km, 150m elevation, time 1.5 hrs. Coffee after at Hillcrest Farm or PAC. Wed. May 28 – Predator Ridge: Meet at PAC 9:00am or 9:40am at the trailhead. Directions: From the Centre head north on Hwy 97 through Lake Country then look for the turn off to Predator Ridge. Turn left onto Bailey Road and go approx. 2km to the T-junction. Turn left onto Commonage Road and drive 4.2 km to the roundabout. Take the right exit and go down the hill to Village Centre Way into the parking lot. We will meet here. This is an undulating hike on trails and some paved paths with a number of short steep climbs both up and down. Approx. 1 hr 45 min. Please wear good boots, bring your poles, a hat, drink, camera, and a smile. Coffee or lunch to follow afterwards in Winfield at Tim’s or the Turtle Bay pub. Friday, May 30 – Special Advanced Trek – Myra Bailout/Hromek hike:
Meet at PAC 9:00am or 9:30am at the trailhead. Carpooling recommended as there is roadside parking only. Drivers will need to go up Little White Forest Service Rd (generally in good condition, but it is gravel) and park on the side of the road. Directions: Take Benvoulin Rd. and turn left on KLO Rd. Turn right on McCulloch Rd. and follow McCulloch to June Springs Rd. Turn right here. Set odometer for 6.3 km. Continue straight to stay on June Springs Road. The road will turn to gravel and becomes Little White Forest Service Rd. At 6.3 km park on side of the road. The hike is 5 km long can but be pretty challenging because of the altitude of the path at the start and the end. About half way we will reach Lost Lake, where we will stop for a snack.
